Mind & Pain Care

Mindfulness & Relaxation Training
Mindfulness & Relaxation Training was born in the middle of a CRPS flare, when even the hum of the refrigerator felt too loud. In that darkness, learning how to calm my nervous system-breath by shaky breath-kept me here. Now we offer those same tools to you.
These sessions blend mindfulness‑based pain management with down‑to‑earth Relaxation Techniques Training. You'll learn how to notice what's happening in your body without immediately bracing, panicking, or dissociating. We practice simple, guided mindfulness exercises that you can do from a recliner, a hospital bed, or the front seat of your car outside a doctor's office.
We also walk through evidence‑based relaxation techniques for pain and stress relief: paced breathing, grounding, gentle muscle relaxation, and sensory strategies that don't require fancy equipment. You'll try them in session, then we'll talk about what actually feels doable on your worst days-not just your best ones.
For many veterans, caregivers, and chronic pain fighters, these practices become a quiet anchor. They don't erase the pain, but they can soften the edges: less tension, fewer pain spikes triggered by panic, and a little more control over those long, sleepless nights. Over time, people often report calmer mornings, fewer emotional outbursts from sheer exhaustion, and a greater sense that their body is not the enemy.
You don't need prior experience with meditation, yoga, or anything "woo." If you can breathe and are willing to try for a few minutes at a time, you're welcome here. We move slowly, respect your trauma history, and adjust every practice to honor your limits.
If your nervous system has been stuck in fight‑or‑flight for far too long, this training offers a gentler way to move through each day, one mindful breath at a time.
