Cognitive & Behavioral Pain Therapy

Cognitive & Behavioral Pain Therapy grew out of the same question many of us whisper at 2 a.m.: "If they can't fix the pain, how am I supposed to live like this?" As someone who lives with CRPS, PTSD, and treatment‑resistant depression, we built this service around what actually helped when nothing else seemed to touch the hurt.
In these Cognitive and Behavioral Pain Therapy sessions, we work together to untangle the knot between your thoughts, your nervous system, and your pain. Using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Pain, we look at how your brain has learned to expect danger in every twinge, then gently retrain it. That might mean catching the "this will never get better" thoughts before they spiral, or learning small behavioral shifts that calm your body instead of feeding the flare.
You are not asked to pretend the pain is "all in your head." Instead, we respect that the pain is real, and we use mind‑body pain management tools to reduce the emotional suffering that rides on top of it-things like anxiety, anger, shame, and hopelessness. Over time, many people notice fewer pain‑related panic episodes, better sleep, and a little more room in the day for the people and activities they care about.
Sessions are conversational and practical. We set goals that make sense for your life-maybe getting through a medical appointment without shutting down, or riding out a flare without ending up in the ER again. You'll leave with concrete strategies to practice between sessions, not just "awareness" of the problem.
If you're tired of hearing "there's nothing else we can do," this is a space to learn new ways to cope, feel more in control, and rebuild your emotional footing-even when the pain hasn't gone away.
